Appointed as Shogun by the Emperor, he established a government in Edo, now Tokyo, that ruled Japan for the next 250 years. The Japanese Edo Period is also the beginning of modernizing and that concept applies to the fine furniture featured here. These are beautifully crafted with cleaner lines that promote serenity and a sense of self. Each piece is created with a purpose – as in many types of other Asian craft – and each selection will be a welcome addition to a bedroom, a living area, or when entertaining and dining. Low bedding is reminiscent of feng shui while even select seats boast similar statures.
